meINNOVATIONS
Coaching and Consulting provides customized coaching services based on periodization, the same theory that propels many top amateur and pro
multi-sport, track, mountain bike, cyclocross, and road racers, including Lance
Armstrong, to "A race" victories.
Key Benefits
- peak for races, events, or goals that are most important to you
- receive individualized programs and instruction with a long term
focus that help you to teach and motivate you to attain
your goals and develop skills safely taking into consideration your work, relationship, team,
and other responsibilities
- coach/athlete confidentiality - goals, workouts, pricing, etc.
- Each individual athlete in the meINNOVATIONS
program undergoes an interview to determine goals, existing fitness level, strengths, areas for improvement, time and equipment resources available, and work, school, team, and family commitments. After the interview I work with the athlete to establish realistic goals and an annual training plan based on periodization. The plan has base, build, peak, race, testing, recovery, strength,
and cross training components.
After the annual plan is established athlete feedback is used to create specific weekly workouts. Athletes give feedback by phone, email,
or face-to-face and workouts are distributed by
email. At specific milestones, generally during the recovery and testing week of the mesocycle,
goals and the training plan are reevaluated.
Depending on the athlete's desires, consulting services
are available for bike positioning,
video analysis, threshold and power testing, skills development
(descending, cornering, etc.), tactics, strategies, race psychology, running
form, referrals for swimming techniques, diet
and nutrition, and clothing and equipment selection and purchase.
All programs are designed to assist the athlete in attaining goals. The
programs are particularly effective for those wishing to achieve peak
performance.
Special Groups
Juniors
1. The coach is a role model. Juniors and parents can expect the coach to teach responsibility, safety, consideration of others, and the joy of cycling each day rather than solely the fleeting pleasure of a race victory.
2. Balance. The athletic endeavor has to be fun and it must integrate with schoolwork, family, other athletic endeavors, social development, etc.
3. Physiological development. Orderly progression in the development of flexibility, abdominal and lower back core muscle groups, spin mechanics, intensity, frequency, duration, and competition is essential for establishing good habits for long term safety and enjoyment in cycling and in life.
Females
1. All programs consider differences in abdominal and upper body strength,
diet, competition length, equipment, contraceptives, and psychology of sport for
women.
2. Good communication is the key to affording the proper level of sensitivity
without patronization.
Masters
As athletes age it is possible to maintain performance at near peak levels
with the appropriate strength, flexibility, intensity, speed, recovery, and dietary
regimen.
